The support from the SME development project in Soc Trang province
will help Ho Quang Tri Company implement the ST rice value chain upgrading more successfully
Implementing the ST rice value chain upgrading of the SME development project in Soc Trang province with the focus on establishing the ST rice production network and strengthening the linkage between enterprises and farmers working in the ST rice production, Ho Quang Tri Company located in Tai Van commune of Tran De district committed to participating in ST rice value chain upgrading activities of the project and is the only company in Soc Trang province to produce ST rice seeds including super pure, pure and certified rice seeds. Accordingly, the Project Management Unit supported Ho Quang Tri Company with 49% out of the total cost in purchasing 03 KUBOTA NSPU68C-U6 transplanting machines following the refund mechanism. These machines with the design power at 0.2 hectare per hour are produced and assembled in Japan. This support will help the company be more convenient in the linkage with farmers producing rice seeds and help reduce labor cost and ensure the rice quality.
Mr. Ho Quang Tri with great happiness beside a new transplanting machine
Sharing the necessity and expected outcome from these transplanting machines, Mr. Ho Quang Tri said "transplanting rice seeds requires high skills and accuracy in each action; therefore, in recent time the company has had to hire experienced translators from An Giang province to do the transplanting by hand; even so, the quality was not still ensured. When the transplanting machines are operated, compared to transplantation by hand, the duration of young rice is shorter; the distance among the young rice is more equilateral; and the quality of rice seeds is better". According to Mr. Tri, the productivity of these 3 transplanting machines is equal to that of 100 laborers, which helps reduce the production costs and more importantly ensure the quality of rice seeds which are not mixed with other varieties in order to better meet the higher and higher need of the market and increase the added value for ST rice products.
