On November 11th 2013 at Soc Trang 2 Hotel and Restaurant, the Industry Promotion and Development Consultancy Center (IPDCC) cooperated with the Project Management Unit of Small and Medium sized Enterprise Development Project in Soc Trang province to organize a workshop to introduce cleaner production procedures in industry.
There were Mr. Nguyen Van Dong Phuong - a cleaner production specialist, Vice-Director of Ben Tre IPDCC, Mr. Le Hoang Tri - Vice-Director of Soc Trang IPDCC, Mr. Le Minh Hieu - Vice-Director of Soc Trang Center for Environmental Monitoring, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Trang - Chief Coordinator of the SME development project, representatives of related departments and industrial enterprises in Soc Trang province at the workshop.
Overview of the workshop
The workshop shared information and implementation results of cleaner production demonstration models funded by VPEG project in some enterprises in Soc Trang province (VPEG project refers to Vietnam Provincial Environmental Governance Project funded by the Government of Canada), cleaner production application procedures of plastic sector at Huu Tin Plastics and Package Company (in An Nghiep Industrial Park, Chau Thanh district, Soc Trang province) funded by VPEG project, experience in activities supporting enterprises to apply cleaner production and some typical cleaner production models in Ben Tre province.
Mr. Le Minh Hieu shared the implementation results of cleaner production demonstration models funded by VPEG project in some enterprises in Soc Trang province.
After the workshop, the delegates better understood benefits from applying cleaner production, several cleaner production solutions bringing high effectiveness with low investment costs such as in-house collection and recycling, good inner management, replacement of inputs, better control of the production process, and equipment innovation… As such, enterprises were more aware of the importance of cleaner production, contributing to reducing negative impacts on environment during the production process as well as increasing their competitiveness and sustainable development.
